Conor McGregor & Dustin Poirier Agree To Charity MMA Fight

Conor McGregor, as is usual for the Irish superstar, has been involved in some controversy as of late. He shared screenshots on Twitter of a private conversation between himself and UFC President Dana White. In that conversation, he angled for a fight with TUF 1 winner Diego Sanchez. While Diego is a legend, he's well past his prime, getting decimated by Jake Matthews last weekend. Because of that, UFC analyst and former double champ Daniel Cormier doubted the legitimacy of Conor's request. Of course, McGregor had a fiery response:
'I asked for May you fat fool, what you saying? I fought in January and tried to go again but was purposely held back to be an alternate for a July fight. Wait 7 whole f****** months and “maybe” I’d get to fight? Are you stupid? What are you saying mate? I asked for May vs ANYONE!"
This drew the attention of former rival and current top lightweight contender, Dustin Poirier, who simply tweeted, "Conor?" McGregor's reply to "The Diamond was far more respectful:
"Hey bro! You want to do an MMA charity fight? Zero to do with the UFC. I will donate half a mill towards your charity for it. Sell it on ppv or work a tv deal and we work out other charities that are close to my heart also. I am engaged in many. Strictly a charity “exhibition”.
'December 12th in the Point depot, Ireland. No weigh ins. Open weight, unified rules. I will arrange all travel fare for you and family. McGregor Sports and Entertainment MMA, in association with The Good Fight Foundation. Charity Mixed Martial Arts!"
Poirier was agreeable, but it remains to be seen whether this fight will materialise. For both men, it would be a bit of a "FU" to the UFC as well as contributing towards a noble cause- McGregor is clearly not too happy with the organisation at the moment. Dustin Poirier is in the same boat, after negotiations for a fight with Tony Ferguson fell through, with the UFC and Dana White unwilling to pay Poirier the money that he felt he deserved based on his recent performances.
